Unit Trusts
A Unit Trust is simply a basket of shares. By investing in a Unit Trust an investor is able to access a large number of shares with a modest investment.
Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS)
REITS are investment schemes which invest in property and were introduced into the UK in January 2007. As well as investing in property in the UK they also allow easy access to overseas property.
The benefit of investing in a REIT is that unlike, normal equity/property funds the fund is not subject to corporation or capital gains tax. The fund must also distribute 90% of profits by way of dividend payments.
